NEWS FLASH!  Marcus earns the AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN Certification at 18 weeks old!

At 4 days, Atolicus survived surgery to repair his umbilical hernia. Thank you Dr. Karsten Fostvedt! At 2 1/2 weeks old, the puppies traveled to Washington State University Veterinary Hospital, visited staff, and stayed in a motel room for 3 nights while Tazzi was treated with radiation for her cancer. They have been introduced to and play regularly with all the other dogs in the family and special friends including their father, Giselle, Hattie, Tazzi, Dahlia (who thinks they are kitties dressed in puppy suits) Zeke, Barracuda, and Lily. At 4 weeks, all the puppies were seeking out the pee pee pads and keeping their exercise pen clean. All of them sit for petting and before they are picked up. They could sit and down on command.	At 5 weeks old, Atolicus had his second surgery to correct his diaphram.  He is now fully recovered and living life to the fullest! He is now officially a MIRACLE PUPPY!  Thank you to all those who supported us, including Danny and Anita Crafton, and Howard and Dottie Goldman, and Mr. Anonymous! At 6 weeks, they could all navigate stairs. At 7 weeks, the litter began their formal training at the PPDT facility including wearing collars and leashes.  They have begun to go through agility tunnels and obstacles on the floor to teach them that they have a backend. at 8 weeks, they were learning more formally the "follow" (prelude to "come"), "leave it", "watch", and the "touch" command so we can teach them how to go to a place. Time has been marching right along.  When the puppies were 9 weeks old they began their first AKC handling class. Aphrodite learned how to show stack and stay.  Marc would walk into his stack.  They learned about walking on a lose leash next to their handlers as well as ring manners while other dogs were present and how a judge would handle them.	From 12 to 15 weeks Marcus began a puppy class at Positive Puppy with Assistant Instructor, Bridgette Aldrich and apprentice, Meredith Giles handling the leash.  He learned touch, go to bed, and stay. At 17 weeks all the puppies went to an AKC tracking seminar with AKC Judge, Teressa Keenan from Big Sky Tracking Club of Montana.  All the puppies began their step by step tracking! Marcus earned his AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN Certification at 18 WEEKS OLD! That's 4 1/2 MONTHS old!

My Commitment to My Puppies.....       

        As a trainer, I realize the incredible importance of early training and socialization for any puppy, but especially for a German Shepherd puppy.  I screen my potential puppy buyers for their commitment to training and socialization, and provide incentive programs to encourage all my puppy buyers to title their dogs with the AKC Canine Good Citizen, obedience, Pet Therapy certifications, tracking, Schutzhund, Search and Rescue, detection work, or agility.  I want every one of my puppies to have the opportunity to grow to their full potential, mentally and physically.  I require my puppy buyers to take their puppy to training.  I give substantial discounts for buyers to bring their puppies to my classes.   For buyers outside the Wood River Valley, I encourage new owners to take their puppies to training with professionals who utilize the Operant Conditioning training method. 
         I require my puppy buyers to have a fenced in yard.  I ask for references from each potential puppy buyer.
         I also give incentives to new puppy buyers who will PennHip their puppy at 8 months so that I can track the success of my litters.
        I encourage new puppy owners to feed a raw, homemade,  or premium dog food that does not contain grains. 
        All of my puppies come with a puppy packet and they are temperament tested so they can be placed in homes most suitable to their personalities.  I take my breeding very seriously and I expect that people who buy my puppies take their commitment to their puppy seriously as well.   ~ Fran Jewell

  "A" litter von Kearnan Talo is a very special litter of puppies.  This litter is not for sale. One will be donated to Positive Partners Assistance Dogs, Inc.  And one will become an Air Scent Search and Rescue Dog.  It is our hope that these puppies will enrich the lives of people with disabilities and save the lives of those who are lost.  We are thrilled to be able to dedicate this exemplary litter to a program we are totally committed to.
