Fran Jewell, Owner and Head Instructor Founded in 1999, Positive Puppy is the dream of Fran Jewell. As many people in the valley know, Fran used to work in the county building department for many years. Determined to follow her dream after a life threatening illness, Fran left her county position to pursue dog training on a full time basis. Fran dreamed of becoming a guide dog trainer when she was in 7th grade. Her passion for dogs grew from the relationship she shared with Susie, a Brittany Spaniel, who was Fran’s first dog over 45 years ago. Before Fran was in Junior High, she taught Susie over 45 commands. Having trained over 4000 dogs right here in the Wood River Valley, hardly a day has gone by that dogs have not been a part of her life. |

While Fran’s interests in dog training are multi-faceted, she focuses her energy on performance events. Her current projects include titling her 4 German Shepherds in AKC agility, Schutzhund obedience and tracking. Most of Fran’s dogs already hold AKC, UKC, and SV (German, German Shepherd Club) obedience, agility as well as Pet Therapy Dog titles. One was an operational air scent Search and Rescue dog for 10 years.. Between them, Fran's dogs hold 35 titles. All of Fran's dogs hold the AKC Canine Good Citizen title. Fran averages 3-4 titles on her dogs a year. | ||

In addition to performance, Fran enjoys the impressive beauty of the
German Shepherd, owning and handling her own dogs in the AKC and German
conformation ring. Serious to her love for the German Shepherd, Fran owns, shows and trials 2 World Class West German show lines German Shepherds, Evandar Mestari vom Brostrom and SG1 Mavis v Bullinger. She is now training Brinx von Kearanen, who is a puppy from her own litter out of Mavis. Fran has shown Evandar and received his "G" German Show rating and attained his BH German obedience title, AD German endurance title, and the impressive FH Tracking title, and AKC TD title. |
