MEET OUR DOGS

Giselle is the amazing test of spirit and courage.  In Giselle's first 10 weeks of life, she became a parvovirus survivor.  By the time she was barely 1 1/2 years old, she had a spinal embolism that left her backend paralyzed.
I had to make the tough decision about letting her continue her life severely disabled or chance it that she would recover.
Well, she recovered enough to live her life with quality and dignity.
One of the things I learned from Giselle is that
dogs really don't let disability create emotional barriers for them to climb.  They just accept their disability and go on with life with zest and determination.  Her determination to still run with the other dogs, play and savor the taste of a mountain stream was a lesson for me to internalize and keep close to me in all my life decisions.

A sweet story about Giselle happened just last fall. I went to a fun match to show Evandar in conformation.  They happen to have obedience going on that day as well.  On a whim, I decided to enter Giselle.  She had not been worked for nearly a year in obedience. I took her out of the truck about 10 minutes before she went into the ring. I warmed her up with some attention work.  She came out with a 196 and first place.
It seems that all we have to do is give our animals a chance, have some faith in them and they will always shine.  While her veterinary bills have kept me busy, this little girl has shown me the true loyalty and intelligence of the noble German Shepherd as well as the spirit that we should all show when we face life everyday.
I hope you enjoy the glimpse of this little wonder.  A little beauty she is in heart and soul.
