A Violet Flame to heal the soul....
Evandar is a
joy. In every moment of every day, he is always there to heal my
soul. His strength and gentleness warms our home. He
embodies the dog you know is there to provide you with devoted
companionship, but at moment's notice, there to protect me from an
intruder.
He is happy to sleep and dream on the back deck or in his
bed. Yet, when I take him on the training field, he explodes
with enthusiasm to learn and work. He is truly the finest dog I have
ever trained. He is clicker trained and easily earned his BH, TR1, TR2
and TR3 Tracking Titles, and CGC
with confidence and zest. He is also AKC Tracking Certified. I love that he can turn on for work and
turn off when I want a quiet evening at home. He plays easily with
Morgan's pit bulls ~ both males and females. He LOVES little puppies
and lets them climb all over him.

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate a dog who can
be kind and gentle to little animals and then portray a presence at the
front door when someone is there whom I am uncomfortable with. I do
not fear going anywhere by myself when Evandar is by my side.
He is sensible yet strong. He is confident but
not reckless in his drive.
Evandar Mestari vom Brostrom is not
my first shepherd, but the first I think to be worthy as a foundation dog
for Kearanen Talo. His breeding is of world class German
lines. Both his mother and father are German VA rated. His
father, Lasso vom Neuen
Berg SchH III was World Sieger in 1997 and USA Sieger in 1997 and
1998. Evandar's mother, Jessie
vom Blickfeuer SchH II was VA5 in the 2001 USA Sieger Show. At 3 months
old, Evandar was rated VP or Very Promising in the German conformation
ring.
By the time Evandar was 9
months old, he was tracking as SchH III track in distance and
difficulty. Evandar just earned the prestigious FH tracking title in
Canada. We will seek the FH2 in October.
I gave him a chance
to show us what his natural ability was with sheep last
spring. He impressed one of the most experienced
Border Collie handlers in the Northwest. His movement reflects his
father's notorious gait. He simply floats across any terrain with
agility and speed. His strength of nerve and perseverance were very
evident.
His hips and elbows have been evaluated both PennHip and
OFA with good results. .
Because of Evandar's strong structure and
confident, but biddable temperament and work ethic, my goals for breeding Evandar
is to produce puppies for service work, competitive obedience, tracking, working herding,
or search and rescue, He is large and
should be bred with lines that produce smaller dogs for correct show
conformation puppies.
Evandar's first litter showed he produces
excellent structure, sound temperament with puppies who love to work
without being over the top with drive that is hard to live with. His
first born son, Marcus, proved his temperament and biddability, earning
his Canine Good Citizen at 4 1/2 months old! Both
Marcus and Aphrodite are excellent examples of the breed with abilities to
show, and work.
