Electronic (invisible) Fencing
Is it right for your dog?

(This page is still under construction)

Positive Puppy Dog Training will always recommend first, a 6' hard fence.  It is by far the most humane and effective way to contain the majority of dogs.  Unfortunately, the Wood River Valley is unique to many parts of the country because of our land development.  Many residential zoning districts will not allow hard fences.  There are also many homes in a wildlife interface area where Idaho Fish and Game will not allow fencing that could inhibit the flow and migration of wildlife.  Some properties are simply too large to consider hard fencing.

In these particular cases, electronic fencing may be the best alternative to having a dog run loose about your neighborhood risking confrontations with wild animals, being hit by cars, annoying other neighbors, and learning life threatening habits such as game and car chasing that can occur when your dog leaves your property unsupervised.  When your dog's life is at stake, and you have no other choices, an electronic fence may be the best solution.  When you are faced with that situation, we hope that you will consider further, whether an electronic fence will work for your particular dog.

This website will help you make a decision about whether an electronic fence might be the best solution for your dog.

Many electronic fence companies give you all the reasons why their fence is best. They even provide "certified trainers" to train your dog.  But, they never help you to examine all the reasons, PRO and CON for using the electronic fence, nor do they evaluate your dog to determine if the electronic fence will work with the personality type  your dog has.  This site will help you MAKE the right decision about whether the electronic fence is a solution best for you.

Check back soon and take our questionnaire before you make your decision to install an electronic fence.

Once you make the decision, THEN make the decision about which fencing system is right for you and who should do the training.

Positive Puppy Dog Training, LLC recommends the
"Dog Watch"
system offered exclusively at Sawtooth Wood Products,
in Bellevue, Idaho, serving all of the Wood River Valley.
